If you love something, it will work. That’s the only real rule.
I love that quote and it is so true, especially when it comes to selecting design elements for your Maui wedding. I am a big believer in creating a space that makes you feel something.
When your guests first arrive at your wedding, they will be greeted with a Welcome Table, it’s the first design element that will give them a peek into what’s to come. It also allows you to provide a warm welcome to your guests using a language of linen, flowers and color.
What I wanted to do in creating this series is to show you that the runner that you choose for your table does not have to match every other element of your wedding decor perfectly. Meaning that if your wedding color palette is say neutral earth tones, you don’t necessarily have to choose a traditionally neutral table runner. I happen to love a neutral color palette so I chose to use a neutral floral arrangement to show that you can incorporate gentle touches of color into a neutral palette without it looking too harsh. On the contrary, I find the colors shown below to be very complimentary and cohesive to a neutral floral design.
Take your time scrolling through the images below and let me know your thoughts! I had so much fun coming up with this concept and would love to see couples step outside the box by adding an unexpected, yet gentle, touch of color on their cake or welcome table. As long as you love it, it will work!

Blue might not be the first color that comes to mind to pair with a neutral floral arrangement but I think it works beautifully. I just happen to LOVE all of the different shades of blue so maybe it’s just me, but I hope not! Blue symbolizes trust, loyalty and produces a calming effect, what a perfect state for your guests to be in as they arrive at your Maui wedding.
I’m calling this color Muted Sunshine. Because I love a buttery, soft yellow and also because I am not a fan of full, bright, blinding sunlight. I prefer that soft golden glow that appears around an hour before sunset every day here in Maui. Soft yellow is said to evoke pleasant, cheerful feelings and I 100% agree.
OK, but what do you think about this soft mustard color? I’ve never been drawn to this color much but after seeing it paired with this floral arrangement I am a huge fan. I think it might be my favorite look from this series!
Ahh, this nude runner. I really, really love this look. So soft and pretty and the perfect accent color to any other shade.
Can tropical pair with neutral? Um, yeah. Take a look at this color I’m calling Tropical Peach. If you’re planning on a tropical color palette, your runner doesn’t necessarily have to be the exact color as your flowers. I’m a big fan of pairing a softer colored runner with brighter colored flowers. In this case, it works the other way around as well.
This is my Terracotta runner and I think it’s such a pretty and unexpected color to incorporate into a wedding. Whether it’s just the welcome table or full dinner tables, this earthy color to me really conveys a feeling of warmth. I hope to see it more in weddings this year!
And lastly we have the soft airy Silk Ivory runner, so elegant and refined. Isn’t it lovely!?
Well that was fun, I could honestly do this all day! Hopefully, you found it helpful, let me know if there’s a color you’d like me to showcase in the future, I’m always up for creating something new specifically for your Maui wedding or event!
